| Designated hitter Maxim Yudaev singled twice and doubled to raise his league-leading batting average to .567 as VVIA beat Moskvich by a score of 11 to 1 at SKA-29 stadium.
With Yudaev extending his RL-high hitting streak to 16 games, Alexei Bakutkin saw his hit streak stopped at 15, going 0-for-2 with a walk. The second baseman also committed two errors, that after making only one such miscue in his last 30 games at the position. Swinging wooden bats in preparation for the European championship, the Army club batters enjoyed their third consecutive game without a strikeout, pummeling Moskvich's first-year lefty Andrei Anashkin (1-4) for 13 hits in four innings. Catcher Andrei Selivanov, back from Belgium along with third baseman Ruslan Nabiev because the season there went on a break, led off the bottom of the 1st with a triple and hit a two-run homer to right center in the second inning. VVIA starter Yury Zhirov got his career-high sixth victory of the season, giving up one unearned run on five hits in five innings of work. |
