| Right fielder Maxim Yudaev had a season-high five hits as the Army club opened a one game lead over the second-place SKV with a 17-2 win against MGU at SKA-29 stadium.
The lanky right-handed hitter collected three singles and two doubles in five at-bats, raising his batting average to a league-leading .571. Yudaev, a .256 hitter in his four previous campaigns, had three runs and four RBIs in his 7th multi-hit game of the season. VVIA's starter Yury Zhirov (4-0) scattered seven hits over five innings, including Dmitri Lukjanchikov's solo homer to left, but allowed only two runs. He walked one and fanned eight. The right-hander, a prime candidate to become RL's first Triple Crown pitcher, leads the league with a 2.16 ERA, 35 strikeouts and his 4-0 record is tied for first with that of Spartak's Alexei Shiroky. |
