| Alexandr Polyakov's arm and bat helped Moskvich halt its 6-game losing streak with a 13-3 KO of RusStar at SKA-29 stadium.
The right-hander (1-2) allowed only one runner past first base in five shutout innings for his first RL victory. He scattered five singles and a walk, striking out five. Polyakov, who entered the game with an ugly line of 15 H, 11 BB and only 1 SO in 7 innings, benefited from his two pickoffs and two runners being thrown out trying to steal by his battery-mate Andrei Sazonov.
Polyakov opened the scoring in the 2nd inning with a two-run double to right and hit an RBI single to center in the following frame.
Sazonov had three singles to lead a 16-hit attack, raising his average to .472.
RusStar's Vladimir Muratov (2-3) gave up six runs on eight hits, including Andrei Kripochin's solo homer, in three innings in his shortest start of the season. He also saw his team-leading batting average fell to .469 after going hitless in three at-bats. Muratov is 1-for-11 in his last three games after hitting .667 (14-for-21) in May. |
