| Alexei Bakutkin and Yury Perepelitza had four hits each to help VVIA move into first place for the first time this season with a 15-7 rout of rival SKV.
VVIA built a 3-0 lead after three innings as Bakutkin doubled and scored on Perepelitza's singles in both the 1st and 3rd innings and German Panyushov hit a solo homer to right in the 2nd. The Army club then sent 13 batters to the plate in the 4th, scoring nine runs on five hits, a walk and three fielding errors. SKV starter Andrei Bogatyrev (1-1) allowed first seven batters to reach safely before being sent to the showers. The right-hander has been pounded in his two appearances against VVIA, yielding 19 earned runs in 8 2/3 innings for a 19.73 ERA. Stanislav Lemtyuzhnikov, who played with the MGU 78ers the last two years, singled twice and drove in two runs in his first game with VVIA. SKV's Ilia Bogatyrev made four errors, all of them leading to a run, and nearly got himself ejected in the 6th inning, when he lost his temper and began kicking his glove after booting another grounder. Dmitri Lukin went 4-for-5 and pitched 5 2/3 innings in relief for SKV, giving up only one earned run. |
