| Anton Shiroky (2-1) pitched a two-hitter and Stanislav Shevelev went 4-for-5 with a homer and three doubles, giving Spartak a sole possession of third place with a 13-1 drubbing of Moskvich.
Shiroky allowed only one run and four hits over his last 13 innings of work, walking eight and striking out 13. Spartak bombed Oleg Korneev (0-2) for 18 hits, including seven doubles and two home runs. Shevelev, who opened the scoring in the second inning with a leadoff homer to right center, collected twice as many total bases - 10 - as in his previous 8 games. Pavel Geraskin and Valery Platonov each had a season-high three hits as Spartak improved to 1-2 against Moskvich. Moskvich's Artem Artamonov, filling in at catcher for the sore-armed Andrei Sazonov, had his team-high 7-game hitting streak stopped, going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. He also committed four passed balls. |
