| Rinat Makhmutov (1-0) outdueled Vladimir Muratov in his first game of the season as SKV maintained a 1-game lead over VVIA with a 9-3 victory over RusStar.
Makhmutov found himself in a bases-full jam with one out in the first, but after Andrei Egorov's RBI single reloaded the bases, Makhmutov proceeded to strike out the next six batters he faced. He never allowed more than one base runner in an inning rest of the way and left with a 5-2 lead after seven, giving up two unearned runs on six hits. He walked two and struck out eight. SKV capitalized on RusStar's fielding errors to score five runs (only one earned) against the losing pitcher Muratov (1-2). Dmitri Lukin's sacrifice fly scored what proved to be the winning run in the 5th for a 3-2 lead. SKV plated four insurance runs in the ninth inning off reliever Valentin Alexandrov. Muratov scattered seven hits, walked one and struck out three in eight innings, lowering his ERA to 3.91. He also continued his torrid hitting, going 2-for-3 with a double and walk, improving his batting average to .611. The rest of the team is hitting .170. |
