| After going 4-for-4 with a walk in the first game of the doubleheader, VVIA's designated hitter Maxim Yudaev got three singles and a triple in his first four plate appearances in the second game, tying a long-standing RL record with eight hits in a row, before he struck out looking against relief pitcher Valentin Alexandrov. All eight hits came against RusStar's playing manager Alexandr Muratov (0-2), who started both contests.
Others to accomplish the feat were Alexandr Pasisnichenko, who did it with APF (Tiraspol) in 1992, and Andrei Chernykh, also in 1992 while with the White Wolves of Krasnoyarsk (I have to make a note though, that this is preliminary information and more research should be done into the subject). VVIA's right fielder Petr Koptyukh, who had become the league's all-time HR leader earlier in the day, extended his own consecutive hit streak to seven for (at least) the second time in his career and has a chance to better the record this weekend against Moskvich. |
