| Shortstop Andrei Egorov's two-run single snapped a fourth-inning tie as RusStar outscored MGU 8-6 in a game shortened by darkness.
With RusStar trailing 4-3 at the end of the 3rd inning, Valentin Alexandrov singled with one out in the 4th, stole second and scored the tying run on a wild pitch and a passed ball. MGU starter Gennady Ardzhevanidze (0-1) gave way to reliever Alexei Shagarov with men on first and third and still only one out. Shagarov walked clean-up hitter Bogdan Strelchenko on the full count to load the bases for Egorov, who connected on a 2-0 offering for his game-winning hit. RusStar went ahead 2-0 on a two-run double by Strelchenko in the first inning and led 3-1 before MGU's Andzhei Tosta hit a scorching liner to center in the bottom of the 3rd, which center fielder Igor Apaev misplayed for a three-run inside-the-park home run. |
