| Red-hot Dmitri Golubev went 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs as the SKV ballclub defeated RusStar 17-7 for the fourth time in a row.
The center fielder improved his league-leading batting average to .580 with his sixth 3-hit game of the year. A career .294 hitter, he has never averaged more than .324 in a full campaign. Mostly known for his top-notch defense and leadoff ability, Golubev has a good shot at Soso Gogishvili's 1996 single-season record of .530. SKV's starter Andrei Bogatyrev pitched three innings of 2-hit ball before leaving the game with a 15-0 lead. After striking out the side in the first, the right-hander yielded a leadoff double to Andrei Sazonov in the 2nd inning, then fanned the next three batters. Alexei Bojkov doubled to start the top of the 3rd, but was stranded at third base as Bogatyrev went ground out, whiff, whiff to tie MGU 78er Alexander Isakadze for the league lead in strikeouts with 35. |
