| The Army Club continued its dominance of the MGU with a 15-3 rout at MGU Stadium.
CSKA has improved to 3-0 against the 78ers this season, outscoring them 46-12. CSKA sent 13 batters to the plate in a 7-run second inning. After Petr Koptyukh popped out to center to begin the frame, MGU starter Alexandr Esin (0-3) allowed the next eight batters to reach safely. Army hurlers Andrei Polstyanov (3-0) and Vladimir Petrov were able to get away with 10 walks as the 78ers went 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position, leaving 12 men on base. Dmitri Lukjyanchikov had three of MGU's seven hits. The left fielder hit a two-run ground-rule double in the third, tripled off the wall in the fifth, and doubled to right center in the seventh. His 7 total bases are the biggest single-game total that mighty CSKA pitching corps gave up to anybody in two years. Soso Gogishvili stole five bases and now leads the Russian League with 21 thefts. CSKA's Evgeny Belousov and RusStar's Boris Fedin are distant second with 12 steals each. |
